fence paint worth buying

replaced part of fence and used a different colour to paint new wood on neighbours side and very pleased with result. purchased this colour for my side and again on new wood very easy to apply and looks great. contacted company as found with old wood it soaked up the paint++ wondering if a different product would be better but was reassured to continue. have now finished fence and pleased with result hoping the linseed nourishes the old wood and will keep it standing for some years to come.
paint easy to apply and didnt matter if painted up and down or sideways - no lines showing and blended well. cleaning brushes also very easy following their directions.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

DESCRIPTION:

A water based acrylic, linseed oil modified, low sheen finish, all-in-one multi-purpose paint.

PROPERTIES:

MULTIMAX’s hybrid system is a blend of linseed oil and acrylic polymer providing a tough and durable surface. MULTIMAX has a high water resistance and better tolerance to imperfect surfaces compared to conventional acrylics due to the special wicking/bonding ability of linseed oil.  It dries to a low sheen finish with a high opacity giving excellent UV absorption and high durability. MULTIMAX will initially be soft but hardens over several days as the linseed oil cures.

PRINCIPAL USES:

MULTIMAX can be used as a finish coat, undercoat and primer.  MULTIMAX can be used on most common substrates such as timber, concrete, galvanised steel & Zincalume® on houses, garages, doors, gates, steps, posts, letter boxes, fascias, fences, barge boards, roofs, spouting, windowsills, gables, sheds, farm buildings and warehouses. On unusual or non standard surfaces, you should test this product to determine if it is suitable for your particular use. Please refer to “Preparation” before use.

Colorsteel® type products:  Before applying MULTIMAX to Colorsteel® type products we recommend a priming coat of ROOFMAX PRIMER before the application of MULTIMAX. ROOFMAX PRIMER has been formulated as a primer for very smooth, baked surfaces where elevated adhesion is required. Please refer to ROOFMAX PRIMER “Preparation” instructions.

COLOURS:

Cool White, Intense Black, Stormy Slate, Moody Grey, Casual Latte, Bold Brown, Red Rush, Green Envy Note:

Always colour test first to check your choice of MULTIMAX colour gives the result you want on the surface you are painting.

APPLICATION DATA - Surface Preparation:
All surfaces:

Remove any old flaking paint by scraping or water blasting. Ensure the surface is sound, clean and free of mould and moss, dirt, oil, grease, bird droppings or other contaminants.

Timber Surfaces:  Treat mould and moss with a proprietary fungicidal product such as PREPMAX Timber Clean & Prep, then remove dead material and dirt by a low-medium pressure wash down and/or scrubbing. Leave to dry. If timber surfaces have been water blasted, please check to ensure excessive loose wood fibres are not present (as high pressure washing often leaves a ‘fluffy’ surface on timber). If excessive loose fibres are present or you have a weathered, absorbent timber surface, we recommend an initial priming coat of AQUAMAX Timber Stain Clear Base (or suitable matching colour to the proposed finish coat) prior to the application of MULTIMAX.

Note:  Heavy water blasting is not recommended on timber surfaces as it can “fluff” the timber surface, use a low-medium pressure wash down and/or scrubbing.

Removal of any moss, mould,& lichen is critical to achieving a successful long-term decorative paint system and to achieve this you need to treat, leave until it has died then remove.

Concrete, Galvanised Steel & Zincalume®:
Treat mould and moss with a proprietary fungicidal product, then remove dead material and dirt by water blasting or scrubbing. Leave to dry.

Note:  New galvanised iron and Zincalume® can have a water repellent surface. Leave the surface exposed to the elements for at least 3 months or use a suitable roof wash solution.

Concrete Roof Tiles: If mould or moss is present, pre-treat the surfaces in advance with proprietary fungicidal product and leave for at least 2 weeks, then remove dead material and dirt by scraping, scrubbing or water blasting. Leave to dry.

Using on porous Concrete and unsealed Terracotta Roof tiles
MULTIMAX works fine on these surfaces, but we do want to point out 2 main points to remember;

1st point is preparation: Weathered tile roofs are typically infested with mould, widespread lichen and moss growth. Removal of these are critical to achieving a successful long-term decorative paint system and to achieve this you need to treat, leave until it has died then remove. (If it is not treated and removed, they may feed on the linseed oil).

2nd point is that unsealed terracotta tiles and weathered concrete tiles need a seal coat of NOVEX Easy Seal Solvent Roof Glaze prior to applying two coats of MULTIMAX.

Application:
Apply on a fine day. Avoid application if rain is forecast within 24 hours or the temperature is below 10°C.

Stir well before use, with a wide flat stirrer in a circulating “bottom to top” motion.

Apply with a good quality brush, roller or airless spray.

Two finish coats are recommended to give greater durability and protection to the surface.

Thin with water, but only if necessary for easy application by the selected equipment.

Note:  If the project requires more than one pail of product (especially different batches) it is good practice to add some of the new pail to the last of the old pail during application to ensure colour uniformity.

Drying Time & Recoat:

As a guide, MULTIMAX will be touch dry in approximately 30 minutes and can be recoated after 2 hours. For walk-on surfaces, leave to dry overnight before recoating.

Note:  Drying and curing times will vary depending on temperature and humidity conditions at time of application. Some initial gloss/sheen variations may appear but will “even out” over a period of time as the oil cures.

Clean-up:
MULTIMAX’s formulation allows for water clean-up. Wash equipment with cold water, then to remove any linseed oil residue, rinse with hot, soapy water eg laundry detergent.

Protect our Environment – When disposing of leftover liquid, keep out of stormwater drains and waterways. Take to a local hazardous waste disposal station. Dry all empty containers in a well ventilated area. Dispose of the empty containers according to your local council regulations.
